Welcome to my blog page!

Thanks for stopping by! You'll find radio-related blog entries here, the GREAT majority of which will be related to SOTA (Summits on the Air). I run QRP, almost always at 4 watts unless I'm using a different radio.

Videos can be found on my YouTube channel.

Other information can be found on my webpage. Learning CW, more about SOTA, and a few other things.

"Ft. Pearce" W7A/NM-120 (3980) Pleasant Winter Hike

View of Arizona Strip from the summit
One very nice thing about living in the desert is being able to go on nice hikes in the middle of winter and still have wonderful weather. This is a gradual hike which starts in Utah, but near the beginning you cross into Arizona. This 4-pointer doesn't have a name, but the trail is called Ft. Pearce, from an old fort at the base. It's perfect for a December hike.

Veyo Volcano W7U/WS-113 Back After Too Long a Break

A good go-to 1-pointer
With the heat of August in the desert, then school starting up again, I got busy and had the longest break away from SOTA since I started--it was over two and a half months since I had activated. It wasn't an on-purpose break, it just happened. This was really just "I have to get out there and get going again" activation. Thus one close to home and simple.

Older posts--SOTA from 2016-2019

Prior to the more recent posts above, I had three years of activating in the Summits-on-the-Air program. Those write-ups can also be found at my website in large pdf's, one per year, which you can click below if you're so inclined:
